Issue Position: Creating Quality Jobs and Living Wages

Issue Position

Lisa will fight to ensure that Hoosiers have access to quality, higher paying jobs that support economic security.

According to several studies conducted by AARP, CNBC, and US News and World Report, Indiana has sunk to nearly last in every major quality-of-life standard from long-term health care to per capita income. While successive Republican administrations have pursued measures to cut taxes, cut spending, and reduce wages, more Indiana workers are no longer economically self-sufficient. Too often workers must take on multiple jobs, choose between paying bills and receiving medical care, or leave Indiana altogether to find employment.

Lisa believes that the way to build our economy is to ensure that all Hoosiers have access to basic economic opportunities, supporting their families without having to choose between work and home. If elected, Lisa will support:

Living wages
Strengthening Medicaid
Creating quality construction jobs by repairing and rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges while investing in energy development
Repealing Indiana's "Right-to-Work" law to strengthen organized labor, which brings higher wages and safer working conditions.
Restoring the Common Construction Wage to return authority to local governments to set wages for publicly-funded construction projects
